Sigmoidoscopy/ Anoscopy are procedures to evaluate the sigmoid colon, and the anorectal region. The patient stays only for a couple of hours from admission to discharge.
Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio-Pancreatography (ERCP) is a procedure used to diagnose diseases of the gallbladder, biliary system, pancreas and liver. In addition, ERCP can be used to treat problems in these parts of the digestive system; so, it is both diagnostic and therapeutic. In this procedure, a bendable lighted tub (endoscope) is placed through the mouth into the stomach and first part of the bowel (duodenum). It is done under general anesthesia.
